The latest offering from Brooklyn-based electro-rapper Aly G is her fresh track ‘Super Power‘. Combining contagious beats with insightful rap, she celebrates the diverse strengths possessed by women – some predictable and others delightfully unexpected.

Aly G, the neon hip hop artist is a mirror image of Alyson Greenfield who not only sings and writes songs but also produces them and choreographs dances. Through her rapid-fire rhymes filled with humor, feminism and boldness she dominates on stage by delivering unique raps that tackle issues such as gentrification, misogyny alongside celebrating superpowers and highlighting importance of ovaries.

POLYVOX is a musical duo consisting of Alyson Greenfield and Joe McGinty (from the Psychedelic Furs), as well as being an artist who has been lauded by The Deli in NYC. Furthermore, she was selected to record at Brooklyn’s Rubber Tracks studio established by Converse, one of the five initial artists chosen for this opportunity.

ALY G, the electro-hiphop musician from Brooklyn, celebrates womanhood with her latest track ‘Super Power’, offering a blend of positivity and empowerment that merges fun, feminism and fierceness.

The concept of ‘Super Power’ declares that womanhood is inherently a potent force. It showcases personal accounts where women exhibit unexpected courage in fending off muggers and sexual assaulters. Moreover, it asserts that birthing and nurturing are so remarkably impressive that women can demonstrate extraordinary fierceness during any challenging circumstance.

During instances of danger where one must either fight or flee, it is revealed which course an individual takes. After being mugged in Chicago and sexually assaulted on the subway in NYC, Aly G discovered that she possesses a fighting spirit. Instead of succumbing to terror during those moments, her energy surged so intensely that both perpetrators hastily fled from her presence. She refused to cower and defiantly proclaimed “Get away from me! My possessions are not your property! Nor is my body yours!” Moreover, similar to the tale about a woman who lifted a vehicle single-handedly to save her infant (which Aly refers back-to while singing), adrenaline coursed through every vein within these circumstances – allowing for an almost superhuman strength sensation inside herself recalls AlyG”.

The lyrics of my track go, “I am capable even while bleeding / My body can give life through its feeding”. As women, we do not need supernatural abilities like web slinging or flying to excel in superhuman feats. Our mere existence and identity gives us the strength to overcome unimaginable hurdles and accomplish great deeds.

Aly G’s latest release, a follow-up to her debut single “Build It Up,” continues to address the issue of urban renewal and gentrification in Brooklyn. The socially conscious NYC artist showcases her quick-witted vocabulary, clever humor observations, and rapid-fire delivery.

Alyson, born and raised in Ohio, discovered her talent for freestyling during her time at college in Wisconsin when rhymes would come to mind spontaneously. After completing an MFA in creative writing, she moved to New York City where she gained popularity as a singer-songwriter. However, one night at a hip hop club sparked inspiration within Aly G that transformed her into the artist we know today. She blends beatboxing into her live performances while covering beloved 90s rap hits resulting in innovative genre-bending shows filled with high energy levels that caught the attention of The New Yorker and HuffPost. Additionally, Aly has recorded covers of LL Cool J’s “Mama Said Knock You Out” and Coolio’s’ Gangsta’s Paradise‘.

After finding inspiration in Lauryn Hill, Saul Williams, Santigold, and Salt-N-Pepa’s music styles; she started creating her own material that reflected the vivacious charm of Aly G. This included a funny real-life incident about how Michael Cera inadvertently prevented their friend from meeting celebrities at SXSW. She has been recognized twice by The American Beatboxing Championships where even Rahzel from The Roots praised her talent. Additionally, she had the opportunities to perform with notable artists like actress/rapper Awkwafina and influential rapper Jean Grae .

Alyson’s original music and compositions have been showcased on various platforms like Fox, Lifetime, AOL, WNYC as well as in popular TV shows and movies such as ‘Conception’, ‘Super Sleuths’ , ‘Creatures of Comfort‘, Dance Moms ‘and’ The American Templars‘. To promote emerging female musicians from across the world she founded NYC’s Tinderbox Music Festival which ran successfully for four years. The festival received extensive coverage by prestigious publications including The New York Times., Time Out New York,. Billboards Glamour among others.
