Does Drake Have A Dark History With Signing Artists?(OVO)

The Weeknd – Drake first discovered The Weeknd in 2010 and helped him gain popularity by featuring on his mixtape. However, The Weeknd eventually signed with a different label and distanced himself from Drake, leading to tensions between the two artists.

Makonnen – Makonnen was signed to Drake’s OVO Sound label in 2014 but was dropped just one year later after failing to achieve commercial success. Makonnen claimed that he felt “used” by Drake and criticized the rapper for not supporting his music career.

PartyNextDoor – PartyNextDoor was signed to OVO Sound in 2013 and initially found success with hits like “Come and See Me.” However, their relationship soured over time, with PartyNextDoor accusing Drake of not giving him proper credit for his contributions to songs.

Roy Woods – Roy Woods signed with OVO Sound in 2015 but has struggled to make a name for himself outside of the label’s roster. Despite releasing several projects, Roy Woods has yet to achieve mainstream success.

Overall, it seems that Drake’s track record with signing artists is less than stellar. Many have accused him of using them for his own benefit and then abandoning them when they don’t meet his expectations. While some artists have managed to find success on their own after leaving Drake’s label, others have struggled to recover from the fallout of their relationships with the rapper. It will be interesting to see if this pattern continues in the future as Drake continues to sign new artists under his OVO Sound imprint.
