About “Autumn Tears”:
The product of a vulnerable reflection on a past toxic relationship, “Autumn Tears” is charged with raw and emotive lyrics that work to tell the story of manipulation, self-blame and unhealthy coping mechanisms. After neglecting to work through the emotional turmoil that Tamara was left in after her and her partner went their separate ways, she was forced to come to terms with her repressed emotions after bumping into her ex-partner. Starting with a simple tune on her piano, the lyrics for the first verse of “Autumn Tears” effortlessly poured out of Tamara and transformed into an elegant and emotive slow-tempo ballad. For Tamara, the remainder of the song-writing process was emotional and introspective as she was forced to revisit countless negative memories. However, she ultimately found herself healing from this detrimental relationship during the cathartic process of creating the ballad. Equipped with the power of hindsight many years after the end of the relationship, “Autumn Tears” showcases Tamara’s growth and wisdom as she comes to the realization that both her and her ex-partner share accountability for what went on during their shared relationship.
Tamara describes “Autumn Tears” as her “most personal song ever”. Using inspiration from musical icons Freddie Mercury, Stromaë, Lady Gaga and Adele, Tamara cleverly assembles her songs with their styles of vulnerable song-writing in mind. With the first two emotional verses building up to a courageous bridge that features a cycle of melodious humming, Tamara bids ‘farewell’ to her ex-partner and their relationship, and encourages her listeners to do the same if they find themselves in a similar situation. Tamara’s advanced, poetic lyrics and rich vocals flawlessly deliver her latest single “Autumn Tears”, which highlights Tamara’s growth as an artist, while staying true to her signature sound.
Quote:
“Autumn Tears” touches upon a toxic relationship Tamara was involved in several years ago. She was coming out of a dark place, a time when she was going through enormous waves due to her mental health and was with an unsupportive partner. She decided to go in-depth about how the relationship affected them both overall, but specifically towards its end. And as much as one can blame the other, the reality was they were both at fault. Throughout the song, Tamara circles around topics such as ‘problem drinking’; manipulation; depression; anxiety and self-blame. Tamara wrote “Autumn Tears” towards the end of Autumn, a few weeks following an encounter with her ex years after they went their separate ways. Although writing the song in months due to having to revisit awful memories, Tamara has said that writing “Autumn Tears” has helped her cope, learn, heal and grow.”
