Nigerian-born artist Sadé Awele seamlessly blends R&B, Jazz, and Afro-Soul to create her very own smooth and harmonious sound. Her notably warm and distinctive music saw the artist take home the African Fashion and Arts Movement Award in 2020, the same year Exclaim! Magazine crowned her an “Emerging Canadian Artist You Need to Hear”. A natural artist who grew up in a music-filled home surrounded by Gospel, R&B, Afrobeats, and Jazz, Sadé often draws from her Yoruba and Igbo heritage to create a sound all her own. Influenced by artists like Lauryn Hill, Stevie Wonder, and Beyonce, Sadé Awele’s music embeds the visceral warmth of 70’s R&B with skillful storytelling and unforgettable grooves. Having just been selected toshowcase at Canadian Music Week and NXNE in 2023, Sadé will also see her music video for her upcoming release premiere at film festivals in both Vancouver and TorontoSadé recently joined the 2.8% of female producers in the music industry today following her participation in the Women in the Studio Accelerator Program by Music Publishers Canada. With the tools in hand to bring her ideas to life herself, Sadé Awele’s limitless talent truly knows no bounds. As she gears up to release her sophomore EP later this year, Sadé Awele will be releasing “Intuition”, a Soulful, R&B track laced with Jazz stylings that the artist co-produced. The impeccable, groove-filled tune about following your heart was just released on Friday, March 3 2023.

Co-produced with Christian Francesco D’Amico, David Zhier, and Sadé Awele herself, “Intuition” features local Vancouver artists Andrew Lo (piano), Adrian Fitzpatrick (bass), Harvey Paris (horns) and Molly Mackinnon (strings). The track was mastered by: Brock MacFarlane at CPS Mastering.

About “Intuition”:

Opening with a delicately sparing and Jazzy piano loop against the familiar sound of a record player’s soft static, Sadé Awele’s “Intuition” immediately transports listeners to a world with an inescapable groove. With distinctive, subdued drums and a notable bassline, the artists’ tranquil, Soul-filled vocals tell a tale of trusting oneself, and the questions we have about taking a leap of faith. The sun-drenched tune was written during a season of change for the artist, in which she questioned taking the risk to do the things she wanted to do. Written as inspiration for herself and for others, Sadé Awele’s groove-filled track “Intuition” featured lush, layered harmonies that naturally flow against the classic R&B rhythm of the track. As one of the first songs the artist has produced herself, Sadé describes the experience as both daunting and liberating, allowing the artist to completely capture the sounds and ambiance she has in mind when creating a song. Woven amongst Sadé’s encouraging velvet vocal performance are vibrant elements of both Jazz and Soul, that offer a throwback feel while remaining remarkably fresh.

Sadé will be releasing an incredible video for the track in late March.

From Sadé Awele:

“Dedicated to the unconventional love that cuts across borders to be found. An unshakable feeling that the truth we seek lies within us, it is our intuition.”

After her first single in 2018, Count on Me, Awele released a series of critically acclaimed singles and strong audience response. In 2020, Awele was awarded Female Artist of the Year from the African Fashion and Arts Movement (AFAM) and Exclaim! Media named her as an artist that needs to be heard. With strong influences from the iconic Stevie Wonder, Erykah Badu, Beyoncé, and Lauryn Hill,
