The Murder Of Rapper Slim Dunkin: Killed Over Candy
Slim Dunkin, born Mario Hamilton, was an up-and-coming rapper affiliated with Atlanta-based rapper Waka Flocka Flame and the Brick Squad Monopoly label. Tragically, his life was cut short in a senseless act of violence on December 16, 2011.
According to reports, Slim Dunkin was at a recording studio in Atlanta to shoot a music video. An altercation broke out between him and another individual, later identified as rapper Young Vito, whose real name is Vinson Hardimon. The disagreement reportedly started over a piece of candy, although details about how this minor dispute escalated remain unclear.
During the altercation, Slim Dunkin was shot in the chest. Despite being rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The incident shocked fans and the hip-hop community, as Slim Dunkin was considered a promising talent with a burgeoning career.
Young Vito was later arrested and charged with murder. During the trial, the defense argued that the shooting was in self-defense, asserting that Slim Dunkin had initiated the physical confrontation. In January 2013, Young Vito was acquitted of the murder charge but was convicted of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He received a 25-year prison sentence for these charges.
