Canadian R&B and pop-influenced singer-songwriter Sammi Morelli is an award-winning, highly coveted vocalist who combines her soaring, soulful vocals and expertly crafted melodies with powerfully relatable lyrics. The multi-dimensional artist has just released her first single of 2021, “Love Away”, an explosive, yet classically designed, up-tempo R&B/Pop track infused with modern elements. The song was produced by Juno-Award winning producer Nathan Chiu (also known as Wayfie, and Inja), who Sammi credits with helping her reach the exact sound she was looking for.

Sammi has just released her brand new music video for the song where the artist plays a bachelorette on a fictional vintage television dating game show. With each of the three bachelors also played by the artist, the video hilariously depicts the “cringeworthy” men from Sammi’s past vying for a second chance. The video was filmed in Vancouver by local director Leah Dean Cohen.

Following a personal exploration of boundaries and trusting her intuition, Sammi uses her own past relationship experiences and feelings of frustration to fuel “Love Away’s” ‘take-no-excuses’ spirit. Citing musical inspirations from iconic artists and producers including Michael Jackson, Lionel Ritchie, and Quincy Jones, Sammi expertly showcases her ability to craft their influences into her music, without imitating theirs. Rooted in 80’s R&B/Pop, “Love Away” is elegantly modernized by contemporary sounds and Sammi’s undeniably impressive vocals. Beginning with a simple loop, “Love Away” took only a short few days to write and was workshopped with her band through multiple live performances. “Love Away” offers a look into Sammi’s journey to take control of her own destiny and find the love she deserves.

“I’ve always thought those old dating game shows were absolutely hilarious, and when we were coming up with concepts for this video I suddenly remembered the video date cringe fests from the 80’s and thought… YES. THAT. And, just to have even more fun, I thought it would be funny to play all the parts and really lean into the cheesiness… a side of myself I haven’t gotten to show off enough! I really loved being able to put this concept and all these over the top characters alongside the deeper message of the song. Biography:
Over the last year, Sammi has been using this global ‘pause’ to focus on raising her baby daughter, releasing a few notable EDM Collaborations (which have collectively surpassed 1M streams and counting across platforms), writing dynamic & memorable songs through song camps & co-writes with other artists, as well as diving into production on an exciting new genre-bending singles releases, which she feels is her best, most personal work yet.
