Toronto FC is a Canadian football team hailing from Toronto, Ontario. Founded in 2006, they are one of three Canadian teams playing in the MLS, and compete in the Eastern Conference.
Winners of four consecutive Canadian Championships from 2009-2012, Toronto FC was subject to an Ajax influence in 2010, when Jurgen Klinsmann came in and recommended Dutch managers, who adopted the 4-3-3 formation and style of play the iconic Dutch club employs.
Since then, after suffering lows and highs, Toronto have sought the services of several high profile players – their squad currently boasts MLS’s top earner Sebastian Giovinco, former Tottenham and England star Jermaine Defo, French midfielder Benoît Cheyrou, US striker Jozy Altidore, and others.
