Blue Jays lock up Vladimir Guerrero Jr. on 14-year deal

Date:

In a monumental move for the franchise, the Toronto Blue Jays have reportedly signed Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to a 14-year contract extension, securing the power-hitting first baseman as the cornerstone of their future.

The deal, which is expected to be one of the largest in MLB history, reflects both Guerrero Jr.’s on-field production and his value as a face of the franchise. Since his debut, Vlad Jr. has been a consistent offensive force, earning All-Star nods, finishing as an MVP finalist, and racking up home run titles along the way. His presence has energized Blue Jays fans across Canada and built a new era of hope around the team.

While financial terms have yet to be officially confirmed, sources indicate the contract could be worth over $350 million, placing Guerrero Jr. among the highest-paid players in baseball history. This deal also sends a strong message: the Blue Jays are serious about contending long-term and building around homegrown talent.

Fans have taken to social media to celebrate the move, calling it a “franchise-defining moment” and praising the Jays’ front office for locking in their superstar.

With Vlad Jr. now locked in for the next decade-plus, Toronto can now focus on developing and surrounding him with talent to pursue the ultimate goal: a World Series championship.
