Bow Wow Recalls Michael Jordan Tossing Out His Iverson Reeboks at the Chicago Mansion

Date:

In a recent interview clip that quickly went viral, rapper and actor Bow Wow shared a hilarious — and slightly painful — memory from his youth involving NBA legend Michael Jordan. The story takes fans back to the early 2000s, when a young Bow Wow stayed overnight at MJ’s Chicago mansion as a guest of Jordan’s son, Marcus.

Bow Wow, a known fan of Allen Iverson at the time, wore a pair of Reebok Iverson sneakers to the house — a bold move considering Jordan’s fiercely loyal ties to Nike and his own brand. “I wore Reeboks to the house. I wore some Iversons — that was my guy,” Bow Wow explained. “After Marcus’ dad retired, AI was my man.”

But things took a sharp turn the next morning. “I wake up in the morning, I see that door crack open,” Bow Wow continued. “He’s like, ‘Aye, whose bullsht are these?’ I’m on the floor, sleep. He’s like, ‘These yours, Bow? Sht’s going in the trash.’” According to Bow Wow, that was the last he ever saw of his Iversons. “Gone.”

The moment, while funny in hindsight, serves as another chapter in the legacy of Michael Jordan’s competitive nature — even off the court. It also reflects MJ’s no-nonsense attitude about brand loyalty and his strong presence in the sneaker culture world.

Fans reacted with laughter online, many noting that only MJ would have the audacity (and authority) to throw out Iversons in his own house — especially when you’re just a guest.
