DL Hughley, And Godfrey 'Go Off' On White Mom Raising $600K After Calling Kid N-Word: "B*tch!"

Date:

Comedians DL Hughley and Godfrey have joined the chorus of outrage after news broke that Shiloh Hendrix—a white Minnesota woman caught on camera calling a Black child the N-word—has raised over $600,000 through online donations following backlash over the incident. Along with fellow comedian Aries Spears, the trio tore into the situation during appearances on Hype+, expressing both disgust and disbelief over what they see as a reward for blatant racism.

During the heated segment, DL Hughley didn’t hold back, calling the situation “a disgrace to decency” and saying, “Only in America can you be caught on tape spewing hate and walk away a half-million dollars richer.” Godfrey was equally vocal, angrily stating, “This is some bullsh*t. This woman got rewarded for being a racist. She said it like it was nothing—now she’s the victim?” Spears, known for his no-filter style, labeled it “a sick circus,” adding that the public has to stop making racists into martyrs.

The incident stems from a viral video showing Hendrix yelling racial slurs at a Black child in what appeared to be an unprovoked confrontation. The backlash was swift, with widespread condemnation across social media and calls for accountability. However, rather than face consequences, Hendrix became the recipient of massive financial support through crowdfunding—sparking a debate on race, privilege, and how public sympathy is distributed.

Many critics point out the stark contrast in how Black individuals are treated in similar viral situations, rarely, if ever, receiving the same level of financial or public backing. DL Hughley summed it up: “We live in a world where being the villain gets you paid, as long as you’re the right kind of villain.”

The growing backlash from prominent figures suggests that this controversy is far from over.
