A$AP Rocky, born Rakim Mayers on October 3rd, 1988 in Harlem – one of the many boroughs of New York City. His love for rap developed during his earlier years around the same time he and his family moved to Pennsylvania. The inspiration behind this passion stemmed from his older brother who played a major role in molding him into an artist himself; unfortunately at just thirteen-years-old Rocky’s world was shaken by the loss of his elder sibling following their untimely death back home where they were raised together in Harlem leaving him struggling with such grown-up grief that is hard enough even for adults let alone children as young as he was then.
