Mattmac, Award-Winning Blind Indigenous Trap-Pop Artist, Tackles Self-Doubt on Brand New Collaboration with Indigenous Hip-Hop Sensation, Stella Standingbear, on New Single “Imposters”

Date:

Indigenous Trap-Pop Artist, Mattmac, who has won awards for his work despite being blind, joins forces with Indigenous Hip-Hop Sensation Stella Standingbear to address self-doubt in their latest collaboration. The new single titled “Imposters” highlights the struggles of feeling inadequate and unworthy.

Mattmac is an innovative leader in the Canadian Trap-Pop music scene and a self-taught multi-instrumentalist, artist, and producer. He creates engaging and impactful music that often explores relatable themes like community, mental health, overcoming hardship etc., unifying the sounds of Pop, Hip-Hop & Trap. Mattmac was born blind on Garden Hill First Nation located 500 km north of Winnipeg but credits his success to his love for music which helped him tackle hurdles.

The video for “Imposters” features both Mattmac and Stella Standingbear, who invited the local community to join them at various locations across Winnipeg.

After being introduced to N’we Jinan by Indigenous mobile production studio – an initiative that teaches communities across Canada about creating their own beats- he honed his talent further thereafter debuting in collaboration with Grammy winner Nelly Furtado before even launching album number one last year.  The young artist has won over 30 million streams from different platforms including Billboard,CBC, “Exclaim!”, among others, and several awards: Broadcast Dialogue Emerging Artist Award, Rap/Electronic Album Of The Year at Summer Solstice Indigenous Music Awards, a coveted spot as Canada’s Walk Of Fame RBC’s Emerging Musician Prize recipient -to name just a few!

As part of pre-release promotions leading up to Mattmac’s third critically-acclaimed studio project due out imminently (which sees yet more collaborations) “Imposters” featuring Stella Standingbear also caught attention recently having been released earlier this month dotted all great streaming services far-flung around world. “Impostors”’s message revolves round battles insecurity or feeling left behind when standing alongside contemporaries doing something similar who oversaturate media feeds now audiences may compare them instantaneously encouraging those trying best pursue dream careers regardless how difficult it might seem sometimes especially while interacting publicly assaulting online gimmicks moulding mainstream ideals quite tricky indeed…
