The Toronto Blue Jays clashed with the Detroit Tigers in an exciting Saturday showdown on May 17, 2025. In a game filled with clutch plays and power hitting, both teams brought intensity to the diamond as the MLB season heats up.

Toronto’s offense came out swinging early, with Vladimir Guerrero Jr. launching a solo home run in the first inning to give the Jays a 1-0 lead. Bo Bichette followed up with a two-run double in the third, pushing Toronto’s advantage to 3-0. Starting pitcher José Berríos held Detroit scoreless through four innings, showing great command and mixing pitches effectively.

However, the Tigers roared back in the fifth, sparked by a three-run homer from Spencer Torkelson to tie the game 3-3. Detroit’s momentum carried into the sixth when they added two more runs on a double from Riley Greene and a sac fly by Javier Báez.

But the Blue Jays weren’t done. In the bottom of the seventh, Cavan Biggio delivered a game-tying two-run blast, and George Springer’s RBI single in the eighth gave Toronto a 6-5 lead. Closer Jordan Romano shut the door in the ninth with a 1-2-3 inning, sealing the win for the Jays.

Final Score: Blue Jays 6, Tigers 5
